Callout
Callouts are a snippet of information that draws attention to important content.
What it is
A callout draws attention to a short, important passage — a note, a caveat, a key fact — by setting it apart from the surrounding text with a coloured left border.
Reach for a callout to emphasise something within a page, not to broadcast a site-wide or time-sensitive message — that is the job of the global alert. See NSW DDS Callouts for guidance on when to use one.
How to add it
Add a Callout block anywhere on the page and type the message straight onto the canvas. The heading is optional — add one from the sidebar Title field.
Configure it
The left border uses the brand colour, and flips to the light brand colour inside an inverted (dark) section so it stays visible. A heading is optional — omit it for a short aside.
Tips
Use callouts sparingly — if everything is emphasised, nothing stands out.
Keep it to a sentence or two; for a longer or dismissible message use an in-page alert.

For a stronger, dismissible page alert use an In-page alert; for a site-wide message use a Global alert.
