Publishing & review

Page states

A new page starts Private: only its editors see it. Publishing makes it visible to everyone; Retract takes it back. If your role can edit but not publish, Submit for publication sends it to a reviewer instead.

Change a page’s state from the toolbar: publish it, and retract it again

Changing state

Open the page in the editor

The current state shows in the toolbar (for example Private or Published).

Choose the next state

Pick Publish, Submit for publication, or Retract — only the transitions your role allows are offered.

Confirm

The state updates immediately and the change lands in the page’s history with who did it and when.

Review flow

Content contributors submit; reviewers get the pending list and either publish or send back with a note. Groups with the Can review permission on a section review just that section — see Users & permissions.

History and rollback

Every edit and every state change is kept. Open History from the toolbar to see who changed what and when, compare any two versions side by side — rendered exactly as visitors would have seen them — or revert the page to an earlier one. Nothing is ever lost by publishing.
