Hero search
Hero search gives people easy access to a targeted search from the top of a page.
What it is
Hero search is a hero whose content is a search box. It goes at the top of a landing page when search is the main thing people came to do — the box is the page's primary action, with a few suggested searches under it.
How to add it
A hero search is part of the page's layout, not a block you drop into the page: switch the page to a hero layout, then choose Hero search in the hero slot. Point it at the page that shows your search results — that page needs a search block on it — and the box will submit there.
Configure it
The suggested searches are terms, not links. Type the words someone would search for and each becomes a ready-run search on your results page, so they keep working if that page ever moves. The search button can show the word Search, a magnifier icon, or neither — and the label above the box can be shown or kept for screen readers only.
Tips
Keep the suggestions short and genuinely popular — they are a shortcut, not a menu. One hero search per page: it is the page's main action, and a second one competes with it.
